5.6 SCTE-104 panel
The XVP-3901-DPI can be configured as an inserter or an extractor. You can use the Operating Mode parameter to
specify the desired mode of operation.
5.6.1 SCTE-104 Insert Tab
When the Operating Mode is configured as Insert, the
card will insert SCTE messages in the video output.
Those messages can be locally predefined on the card or
they can be programmed by the automation and sent
over the serial RS-422 port. The GPI are paired (1 & 2 / 3
& 4 / 5 & 6), and a selection pulldown is provided for each
pair.

Select “Local” to configure the SCTE events
directly on the card as predefined SCTE events.
•
Select “Automation” if the SCTE events are coming
from the automation over the RS-422

5.6.1.1 Local SCTE 104 Configuration
When the SCTE Messages Source is set to “Local”
mode, the user can specify all the parameters of the
Splice_Request packet that will be inserted. This can be
done for each GPI, however the GPI have been paired in
groups of 2 to allow different insertion type for the same event or program ID.
These parameters can be configured for a Splice_Request message:

Pre-Roll Time
•
Break Duration
•
Avail Number
•
Avails expected
•
Auto Return Flag
Refer to the SCTE 104 specifications for more details about the possible values that could be assigned to each one.
5.6.1.2 SCTE 104 Messages from Automation
When the SCTE Messages Source is set to “Automation” mode, the corresponding GPI tabs are disabled since the
SCTE 104 messages will be coming from the automation over the RS-422 port of the card. Provisions have been
made to allow those messages to come from an IP port through iControl in the future. When using the automation, the
XVP-3901-DPI card supports more SCTE messages including Splice_Null, Time, Segmentation Descriptor requests,
etc…
