5.5 Creating a virtual slave
Additional virtual slaves can be created on the same hardware interface. This enables more data to be
exchanged with a PROFINET master, or a connection with a second PROFINET master can be established.
Each virtual slave is assigned a dedicated address via TwinCAT and is configured like an independent
device for the PROFINET master.
Prerequisites for this step:
• A PROFINET slave, created in TwinCAT.
Create a virtual slave as follows:
1. Right-click on the PROFINET device in the tree view on the left.
2. Click Add New Item .
3. Select the appropriate box, e.g. the CX2xx0 (Embedded PC) if you use a CX20xx Embedded PC with
optional PROFINET interface.
