General considerations

9.11. In general

A BAVARIA Virtess 420 is a very powerful vessel. Therefore it should only be handled by trained and experienced helms

-

men. Do not leave unreliable people or children without supervision on board. The fore deck (raised) is not part of the

working deck. Always remove the ignition key, keep the chip in a safe place!

» Do not step on the side decks, the aft platform or the forward raised deck when the craft

is under way.

»

The Fly deck and the Coupé deck are subjected to severe accelerations when operating in

a seaway, even when at anchor.

»

Be careful when handling the hatches, there should be no objects or parts of the body

in the vicinity and in the swiveling range of the engine room hatch - there is a jamming

danger

» There are moving parts on the engine or the propulsion units - avoid contact - Danger!

9.12.

Risk of Flooding/Sinking

Caution

» If you leave the craft for a longer period - close the seacocks!

» The bilge pumps are not capable to pump large quantities of water, with a large hull

opening the boat will sink.

» Keep the level of bilge water to a minimum.

» In rough weather, hatches, lockers and companionway/doorways should be closed to

minimise the risk of water ingress.

» Care should be taken to ensure that the cockpit drains are not blocked and that the

cockpit can drain freely.

» Ensure all limber holes are clear

»

Check function of bilge pumps regularly & clear debris from their inlets.

Caution

The following openings shall be closed when under way, and care should be taken to observe
this warning. Do only open these temporarily if necessary for the operation of the craft.

The boat has a quickdraining cockpit as per EN/ISO 11812:2002. Nevertheless water ingress should be avoided and

the drainage of water must not be impaired. Care should be taken to ensure that the cockpit drains are not blocked
and that the cockpit may drain freely.
