Plug SET-TEMP LIMIT into a grounded wall
receptacle. SET-TEMP LIMIT requires a 100-
120 Volt A/C power source. SET-TEMP LIMIT
consumes approximately 25 watts in addition to
the power used by your heating mantle or other
laboratory heater.

Temperature Probe Connection
and Placement

Plug any Type-K thermocouple into the connec-
tor marked “THERMOCOUPLE.” Place the tip of
thermocouple probe into the region in which you
need to limit the temperature. Give this place-
ment some thought. For example, if you are
heating liquid in a flask with a heating mantle, it
is probably a good idea to have the tip of the
probe resting on the inside bottom of the flask.
Then, should the liquid boil away, the sensing
probe will still be effectively heated by the man-
tle and SET-TEMP LIMIT will be able to turn off
your heating mantle before any damage occurs.

Connecting your Heater and
Other Temperature Controls

SET-TEMP LIMIT must be connected in series
with your heater and other heater controls.
Always plug SET-TEMP LIMIT directly into an
A/C wall receptacle. Then, plug other tempera-
ture controls and heaters in series with SET-
TEMP LIMIT in the following order:

1.

wall receptacle

2.

SET-TEMP LIMIT

3.

Other temperature controls (if required)
such as electronic temperature controls,
variacs etc.

4.

heater (heating mantle, hot plate, oven,
bath etc.)
