Loaders:
Mounted on the main boom cylinder, on all stationary machines whether they are electric or diesel (anything stationary
mounted, with a pedestal) to absorb the shock to the pedestal caused by abruptly stopping the boom function. On
mobile machines, the tires, stabilizers, etc. absorb the shock, but on a stationary machine, accumulators must be used
to absorb the shock.

Mounted inside the shrouding near the firewall as part of the brake circuit. Allows the brake to be applied approximately
five times after the engine has died.

CHECKING PRESSURE AND REFILLING
Once per month, remove accumulator from machine and have pressure checked (and refilled with dry nitrogen gas, if
necessary) by a qualified technician. Reinstall on machine.
Accumulator pressure is 900 PSI (part no. 553-00013) for all loaders.
Accumulator pressure is 700 PSI (part no. 553-00157) for all feller bunchers (was 600 PSI w/ 553-00143).
Accumulator pressure is 1500 PSI (part no. 553-00104) for special 475 and 575 high pressure machines.
Seal Kit for all accumulators is part number 552-00348.
See the Hydraulic Assembly in machine parts manual for accumulator part number used on your machine, along with
mounting brackets and fittings.
