The ventilation openings at
the top should be at least
50 cm below the ceiling
Ventilation-openings
The space between the fi replace (hearth surround/brick work) and the fi re itself should
be left completely open so that there is an empty space. At least 20 mm of free space
should be left on both sides of the fi re. Ventilate the fi replace, by placing ventilation
openings at the top and bottom of the chimney breast.
The total ventilation openings should be at least 450 cm
2
at the bottom of the chimney
breast and also at least 450 cm
2
at the top of the chimney breast.
