Only one pair of ranges will be written to the radio. Save the settings.ini file and close the text
editor program. Now re-open the UV-3R program. Make sure you are opening the same version
of which you have edited the settings file, in case you have several installs on your PC.
The new range will be listed in the “Freq Range” dropdown of the UV-3R software, in the
position specified as freq
N
/data
N
.
Let us see an example to understand the data format. We will use “data2=4014801400430045”.
Imagine to split the line in groups of 4 numbers:
data2=4014 8014 0043 0045
Numbers are right-shifted, with the meaning:
data2=MKMM MKMM MKMM MKMM
data2=LLHH LLHH LLHH LLHH
data2=VHFLowLimit VHFHighLimit UHFLowLimit UHFHighLimit
where:
M = MHz and K = kHz
L = Low Byte and H = High Byte
If you want to set 144.0 MHz == 4014
If you want to set 570.0 MHz == 0057
This way you can compose your ranges, send them to the radio and verify that they are
accepted. Overall a range from about 120 to about 530 MHz has been achieved, but it depends
on your actual device.
IMPORTANT. When choosing a new range and sending it to the radio, the current
memory locations will be erased
. This is normal and should be taken into account.
