During a pass change the receiver frequency as the rx signal shifts out of the channel:
AOS mem 1 -> mem 2 -> TCA (CENTER) mem 3 -> mem 4 -> mem 5 LOS
The currently (26 January 2012) active satellites: AO-27, SO-50. Note that AO-51, whose
frequencies have been used in the example above, ceased operation on 2011-11-29.
When operating through satellites please turn the squelch OFF !!

Can I operate cross-band?
Yes, it is possible! Use the programming software to record a VHF TX and a UHF RX frequency
(or the other way around). Unfortunately this configuration cannot be done via the radio keypad.
Can I copy a memory to VFO?
No.
Can I build my own programming cable?
Sure, see the Files section
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/UV-3R/files/)
for a couple of ideas.
You may use any USB-to-TTL adapter (also known as “USB to UART TTL adapter”), like those
based on PL2303 or CP2102 chips, the latter being better supported under Microsoft operating
systems.
If you take into account time and components it is probably cheaper to buy a commercial cable
right away, unless you are going to use the same hardware to build interfaces to other radios.
Where can I get programming software?
There are a few different URL’s listed in the Messages section, and the direct Vero Telecom
(manufacturer) link is
http://www.verotelecom.com/download.htm
for the latest Windows
version, which is v1.10 as of Dec 2011 for the Mk-II versions. Please see the Files/Software
