This works fine for Ubuntu, however in Fedora the Linux USB serial device has to be
made RWC to be operational in Wine. To make the Linux USB serial device RWC, you could
execute "sudo chmod 777 /dev/ttyUSB0" in a Linux terminal.
With Debian it works fine with a TTY cable and Wine
----
Both versions of the "official" software work fine with Wine on 64-bit Linux.
You just have to make a link to your serial device:
WINEPREFIX=~/wine-envs/baofeng wine SETUPXXXX.exe
{note: ~/wine-envs already exists, but baofeng does not; SETUPXXXX.exe is
whatever your setup file is. This will create ~/wine-envs/baofeng}
{note: finish the install and wait for it to close. then:}
cd ~/wine-envs/baofeng/dosdevices
ln -sf/dev/ttyUSB1 com1
{note: use /dev/<whatever> like ttyS0 or ttyUSB8 on my machine, whatever your
serial port is named that you are trying to use}
Finally, there is now a program in ~/wine-envs/baofeng/drive_c/Program\
Files/XXX (XXX depends on which software you installed). Suppose it is XXX and
YYY.exe you want to run then do this:
WINEPREFIX=~/wine-envs/baofeng wine ~/wine-envs/baofeng/drive_c/Program\
Files/XXX/YYY.exe
There you go! The WINEPREFIX means other programs you use won't see the COM port
or any other strange settings or DLLs this program may install.

FEATURES
How does the LED torch work?
Press the L/R orange button on the left side to switch on and off the top cover LED. This control
is also active when the RTX is switched off (but a battery is connected).
What is the transmit frequency range?
The UV-3R receives AND transmits on the whole VHF&UHF specified range (136-174 MHz,
400-470 MHz). It is not possible to restrict transmission to HAM allocations only, therefore this
little radio might be illegal in your Country.
The RX/TX range can be modified by UV-3R programming software to lesson the chance of
illegal transmissions if required, but may not satisfy legal requirements. For more information on
reprogramming band edges please see message number
2968
. Also, the TX frequency can be
set to within Ham bands as a safety margin but this does not permanently restrict TX to those
Ham frequencies alone.
