1- CUTTING THE EDGE
1- Position the profile on a workbench with the anchoring side facing up.
2- Calculate the cutting length taking into account that it must be 24 mm shorter than the final length so that the closing caps can be
fitted.
3- Cut the profile with a cutter wetting the blade with alcohol or water to prevent the blade from seizing. Make sure that the cut is
exactly perpendicular. After making the cut, clean any impurities off the cut area.
LT = Cutting length
LF = Final length
LT = LF – 24 mm
2- FITTING THE NEEDLE CONNECTORS
Take the connector without cable and position the needles in correspondence to the two copper wires of the edge and push in the
connector so that the two needles slide into place.
Repeat the same operation with the connector with cable from the opposite side of the edge.
3- TESTS
Before extracting the connectors perform the following test. With a tester set to ohm measurement, check that a resistance of 8.2
KOhm ±600 Ohm is measured at the end of the electric cable.
If the resistance values do not fall within the above parameters, remove the connectors and repeat the operation.
4- GLUING THE NEEDLE CONNECTORS
1- Using a brush, apply a thin layer of primer on the connector walls (needle side) and on the part of the edge that will be in contact
with the connector.
2- Leave to dry for at least 1 minute.
3- Apply a thin layer of glue on the surfaces previously treated with the primer.
4- Take the connectors and insert the needles in the holes previously made holding the connector pressed against the edge wall.
5- GLUING THE CLOSING CAPS
1- Using a 4.5 Ø tip, drill a hole through the marking on the cap through which to run the cable.
2- Run the electric cable through the hole in the cap and slide the cap close to the edge.
3- Using a brush, apply a thin layer of primer about 10 mm wide around the entire inside perimeter of the cap and around the entire
outside perimeter of the edge.
4- Leave to dry for at least 1 minute.
5- Apply a thin layer of glue on the surfaces previously treated with the primer.
6- Apply the caps on the edge.
6- CUTTING THE ALUMINIUM SUPPORT
When the band has been completed, cut the aluminium support taking into account that the total length must be decreased by 46
mm (dimension of the two caps).
LT = Cutting length
LF = Final length
LT = LF – 46mm
7- FITTING THE EDGE ON THE ALUMINIUM SUPPORT
1- Before fitting the edge, secure the aluminium support using a countersunk-head screw.
2- Position the edge slightly inclined so that one part of the foot is fitted inside the aluminium support. Exercising slight pressure and
with the aid of a screwdriver, fit the other part of the foot.
This manual contains important information on installation of the safety edges. Therefore, it is essential that you read all the
instructions before proceeding with installation. The safety edges must be installed by specialised personnel only. Realization
of safety devices is governed by the following standards: EN 1760/2 and EN 12978 for motorised gates and doors.
Read carefully the risks description on page 10 and 11 before proceeding with the operations.
