STARTING UP AND REGULATION
Before starting up, make sure that:
•
Make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the
manufacturer's requirements and that all electrical connections
made at the installation site are effected properly as illustrated
in our wiring diagram.
•
Be sure that the return pipe to the tank has no occlusion.
•
Check that there is water in the boiler and that the gate valves
of the system are open.
•
Make sure that the combustion head is long enough to enter
the furnace following the measure specified by the boiler
manufacturer.
•
Check that all the gate valves fitted on the fuel pipes are open;
the same applies to any other fuel shut-off devices.
•
Make sure that there is no electrical connection (bridge) between
second stage thermostat terminals or that the thermostat itself
is not connected.
•
Check that the nozzles fitted on the burner are suitable for the
boiler capacity. If necessary, replace them with suitable ones.
•
The quantity of fuel delivered must not exceed the maximum
amount required by the boiler and the maximum amount allowed
for the burner.
•
Remember that the combustion head is designed for nozzles
with a 60° spray angle.
•
Only in special cases can nozzles with a different spray angle be
used. In these cases, however, make sure that the nozzle with a
different spray angle will not cause problems, such as: blow off,
disk or combustion head fouling, violent ignition, etc.
CAUTION / WARNINGS
To obtain a proper ignition and combustion using the first
flame alone, fuel supply should not be lower than the
minimum capacity indicated on the burner identification
plate.
•
Close the main switch and the boiler thermostats in order to start
up the motor and the ignition transformer.
•
After about 15” from the opening of the solenoid valve, expose
the photoresistor to a light source so that the burner does not
lock-out.
•
When the piping is filled (when fuel comes out of the nozzle)
stop the burner and put the photoresistor back in its place.
CAUTION / WARNINGS
Should it be necessary to purge air, this can be done by
loosening the special fitting with which the pump is provided.
Do not illuminate the photoresistor before the solenoid valve
has cut in because, in this case, the control box will go to
“shut down”.
FLAME CONTROL DEVICE
After starting the burner, check the safety devices, photoresistor,
lock components, thermostats.
•
The flame control device must be able to trigger during burner
operation if no flame is present.
•
The burner must lock out and remain in that condition when,
during the ignition sequence in the time pre-set by the control
device, the flame does not appear regularly.
•
The lock-out causes the immediate stop of the motor and
burner and the switching on of the corresponding lock-out light
indication.
Proceed as follows to check the efficiency of the flame sensor and the
relating lockout warning light:
•
Start the burner.
•
Remove the sensor and engage it to simulate flame absence.
•
After ignition, remove the photoresistor, pulling it out of its housing, to
simulate absence of flame by darkening the photoresistor blocking off
the window in the photoresistor support with a cloth
•
The burner flame must go out.
•
Keep the photoresistor darkened to restart the burner, but if the
photoresistor does see the light within the time preset by the control
device, the burner will lock-out.
•
The equipment can only be reset manually by pressing the specific
button.
•
By keeping the flame sensor engaged, the burner attempts to start.
However, when the flame is not detected, the equipment sets the burner
to lockout condition.
•
The equipment can only be reset manually by pressing the specific
button.
To start the burner proceed as follows:
•
For the single-stage burner equipped with manual adjustment, adjust
the combustion air by following the indications described in the section
“Air regulation on the combustion head diagram”.
•
Close the main switch to activate the burner and wait for it to ignite.
The burner is equipped with a flame disk adjusting screw which optimises
combustion by decreasing or increasing the air flow between the disk and
the head.
Correct, if necessary, the combustion air delivery by acting on the intake
damper and the position of the flame disk adjustable by means of the
screw (B).
When the burner is running with reduced fuel delivery, decrease the air
flow between disk and head by undoing the adjusting screw. Tighten the
screw to increase air flow in the event of larger delivery.
After modifying the position of the flame disk it is necessary to correct the
air damper positions and afterwards check for proper ignition.
