AWA Troubleshooting
34. AWA screen has a bunch of horizontal
lines.
a. The Hirose connector on the back of the LCD is loose.
b. The LCD panel is failing.
35. AWA smokes after plugging it into
Patriot U.P.S. or SOLA/HEVI Duty U.P.S.
power supply.
a. Blown power entry module surge suppressors. Most AWA testers before serial #230
have surge suppressors on the AC line power entry module. Remove them, replace
with MOV's rated for 330VAC.
b. AWA testers were supplied with PATRIOT and SOLA/HEVI-DUTY un-interruptible
power supplies between serial numbers 001 and 200. These power supplies were
used to keep the AWA tester computer up and running in the event of a power outage.
These supplies, if overloaded, could fail. The mode of failure is usually: Blow the
fuse, user replace fuse, replugs into AWA, blows AC line surge suppressors on the
80-110 power board. Replace the board.
