AWA Troubleshooting
c. AWA allows proper meg/PI/hi-pot operation with the PP30D, but not surge test: This
may be the 80-123 Fast A/D board K2 relay (for surge signal) or the K1 relay (for
surge trigger). Also, check for the AUX connector problem as detailed in step 21h
29. AWA gives NESTED failure on surge
test sequence, on certain known good
motors, test results show a wave pattern
shift to the right.
a. AWA units serial numbers before #160 were manufactured with a surge generator
which could give false NESTED failures under certain conditions. This was the 80-
129 stack board. If an AWA unit is being serviced, be sure to replace this board with
the 80-129-002 stack board.
b. Remove the “G” test lead from the motor/switch-gear and repeat the surge test. If the
nest now passes, the ground coupling was the problem, and use this technique to clear
the nested failure.
30. AWA/PP30D combination loses the
"SAVE RESULTS" key, after completing a
PP30D test sequence.
a. Make sure the AWA has V2.4 or later software install.
31. AWA Temperature probe gives erratic
readings.
a. AWA testers manufactured before serial number #140 may/may not have the temp
measurement "Preamplifier" present on the RCA jacks at the front panel.
b. Battery may be going dead in the temperature probe.
c. AMP01 on 80-125 board may be damaged, replace it.
