Engine Control Unit (ECU)
Functioning
Ignition and fuel injection are controlled by a single control unit called ECU. In the ECU inputs from various
sensors feed a signal processor in the circuit to ensure that all outputs of the computer are in the form of digital
pulses.
Entries received may be stable or slowly varying voltages. These signals are in analog form and are converted to
equivalent digital value by an analog to digital (AD). The digital output is fed to rail input / output for transport to
the heart of the computer. Thus the ECU collects all signals, calculates and processes to the actuators to
synchronize exactly the advance of the ignition timing and fuel injection to theengine for different load conditions
and speed.
SensorArray
A sensor is a device that detects or measures the amount, usually in electrical form so that it can be used for
measurement or control.processing analog sensor signals, thus added resistance to interference is improved.
Set of actuators
Actuator is a term generally used to describe a control mechanism. Ejm: a device that converts an electrical
signal into mechanical motion,
for example:
Injector Fuel Pump Solenoid /
