Problem Check Action
The pedal assistance
keeps turning on and off
while riding.
Has the battery been placed
correctly?
- Check whether the battery is properly
and correctly latched in place.
- Check the pedal sensor plug (plug
1, see page 73) and then the motor
plug (plug 2). Remove the battery,
disconnect the plug by untwisting the
two steel rings from each other, blow
out the plug, and connect the plugs
again with the arrows facing each
other. Twist the steel rings against
each other again and place the
battery back in its original position.
The pedal assistance does
not work, but the display
is turned on.
1. Does the walk-assist function
work?
2. Are both the pedal-assist and the
walk-assist functions not working?
1. Check the step sensor plug (plug
1, see page 73) as follows: remove
the battery. Disconnect the plug by
untwisting the two steel rings from
each other, blow out the plug, and
connect the plugs again with the arrows
facing each other. Twist the steel rings
against each other again and place the
battery back in its original position.
- Check for any dirt in the magnetic disk
or the magnetic sensor.
- Ensure that the distance between the
magnetic sensor and magnetic disk
does not exceed 1 cm.
2. Check the motor plug (plug 2) in
the same way as described above for
plug 1.
The motor makes a strange
rattling or crackling
sound.
There could be a problem inside the drive unit.
Have an authorised dealer inspect your Babboe-E cargo bike.
There is an unusual smell
or smoke coming from the
drive unit. There could be a problem inside the drive unit.

NOTICE
For the Big-E, the Dog-E, and all models delivered in or after 2020, plug 1 is in a different position. This has been
indicated in the picture by a red frame and is marked as 1a.
NOTICE
In the Big-E and the Dog-E, plug 3 is incorporated in the seat tube. It is not easily accessible, so call customer
service if you need more help.
Problem Check Action
The action radius
is decreasing.
Factors that can have a negative influence on the action radius:
-Riding on tires that are too soft. Tire pressure should be at a minimum of 3.5 bar
-Riding in the higher pedal-assist modes
-Heavy load on the cargo bike
-Cold weather conditions
-Starting out of a standstill in high gear
-Not pedalling actively
-Grabbing the brakes
Is the battery worn out? Replace the battery.
