A714 Owner’s Guide

Chapter 3: Diagnostics

April 1998

Extended Self-Test

During the extended self-test, the printer checks the internal memory, program

checksum, printhead pin firing, vertical line alignment, character fonts, and pitches.
To perform the extended self-test, complete the following steps.
1. Complete the procedure in the section, “Configuration Report,” on page 10.

After the A714 prints the configuration report, it prints, “Press Button Now to
Change Setup.”

2. If you want to change the configuration, complete the procedure in the section,

“Printer Setup Mode,” on page 12.
Otherwise, wait ten seconds.

The printer prints, “Press the Button Now to Enter Test.”

3. Press the Paper Feed button to begin the extended self-test.

The printer performs internal checks and then prints the self-test report.

The printer prints, “Press the Button Now to Enter Test.”

4. If you want to repeat the extended self-test, continue with step 3 above.

Otherwise, wait ten seconds for the printer to return to normal operation.
