4.3 Pilot Priority Switch
On dual-PFD equipped aircraft, the Pilot Priority switch mounted in
the flightdeck instrument panel allows you to inhibit the controls on
the Copilot PFD when a non-pilot is in the right-hand seat. To locate
the Pilot Priority switch, see the
Pilot’s Operating Handbook
for your
aircraft.
Figure 14. Uncoupled Copilot PFD
The Pilot Priority can be set as follows:
●
Uncoupled
—The
Nav
,
Hdg Bug
,
Alt Bug
, and
Baro Set
buttons
are removed from the Copilot PFD, as shown in Figure 14. These
settings are controlled only from the Pilot PFD. The copilot can
see them on their PFD, but cannot make changes.
Uncoupling the PFDs can be especially important when using the
Autopilot in a mode where Bugs are controlling the aircraft.
Uncoupling the copilot PFD prevents the passenger (a child, for
example) from accidentally changing the flight path.
●
Coupled
—Button labels are restored, which reinstates copilot
control for the
Nav
,
Hdg Bug
,
Alt Bug
, and
Baro Set
parameters
as described in Section 4.2, "Synchronized and Non-
synchronized Controls" on page 38.
