Downloading the Software Code on an Active CPU through
the PCMCIA
To download new software onto the active CPU using the PCMCIA
flash card:
1. Connect the Ethernet port on the supervisor module in slot 1 to
the network.
*Note: Use an Ethernet cable in the 10Base-T port on the
supervisor module front panel (Figure 2-8).
2. Telnet into the switch.

Place the PCMCIA flash card (Centennial, part number
110-0033-001) into the PCMCIA carrier on the front of the
80-Series supervisor module (Figure 2-8).
*Note: You must only use the PCMCIA flash card that
you can order form Avaya Inc
.
4. Access Configure mode on the switch CLI.

Enter the following command from the console to initialize
the PCMCIA card:
cajun (configure)# enable pcmcia

Enter the following command to copy a specified image from
a TFTP server to the PCMCIA card:
cajun (configure)# copy tftp pcmcia
<cardapp1|cardapp2><image_opt_path><ip-addr>
where:
<cardapp1|cardapp2> is the location on the flash
card where to install the image
<image_opt_path> is the image name on the tftp
server
<ip-addr> is the tftp server ip address
