– reduce the total time of exposure to vibrations, particularly if
the operator has to guide the chisel by hand
8 Dust generated during operation may be harmful
– use spot suction or a breathing apparatus
Proper use and maintenance
9 Do not perform idle blows with a hammer
– they will cause high internal stresses and shorten the life of the
tool
– note the risk of shooting out the chisel, die or punch if the re-
tainer is not in order
10 Quick coupling
– if a quick coupling is used on a percussive tool, it shall be
separated from the tool by a whip hose (length 0.5 m)
11 Maintenance
Good service life and safe function is offered if the instructions
for lubrication, maintenance and overhaul supplied with the ma-
chine are followed.
Use genuine Atlas Copco replacement kits and parts only.
Warning
Make sure you are familiar with the operating instructions before
you use this machine.
This machine, its attachments and accessories must only be used
for the purpose for which they were designed:

Installation
Air quality
– For optimum performance and maximum machine life we re-
commend use of compressed air with a dew point between
+2°C and +10°C. Installation of an Atlas Copco refrigeration-
type air dryer is recommended.
– Use a separate air filter of type Atlas Copco FIL, removes solid
particles larger than 15 microns and more than 90 % of liquid
water, installed as close as possible to the machine and prior
to any other air preparation unit like REG or DIM (please see
Air Line Accessories in our main catalogue). Blow out the hose
before connecting.
Models which need air lubrication:
– The compressed air must contain a small quantity of oil. We
strongly recommend that you install an Atlas Copco oil-fog
lubricator DIM, to be set normally at 3-4 drops(50mm
3
)/m
3
air
consumption for long cycle running tools, or an Atlas Copco
single-point lubricator type Dosol for short cycle running tools.
For Dosol setting please see Air Line Accessories in our main
catalogue.
Lubrication-free models:
– Regarding lubrication free tools it is, at the customers option,
no disadvantage if the compressed air contains a small quantity
of oil as supplied from a lubricator DIM or Dosol.
An exception is turbine tools that should be kept oil free.
Compressed air connection
– The machine is designed for a working pressure (e) of 6–7 bar
= 600–700 kPa = 87–102 psi.
– Blow out the hose before connecting.
Installation proposal
Choosing the correct couplings, hose and clamps can be a
troublesome digging into details. To save your time and to ensure
correct capacity of the airline installation, from the tapping point
to the tool, we offer you an installation proposal.
