Installation
The CAS comes with a custom cartridge which contains the costing tables
that are used to calculate the cost of calls made to outside numbers. You
will need the following equipment, which you ordered at the same time as
your CAS, for installation:
14-foot (4-pair) modular cord

355AF (4-pair to RS232 serial data) adapter
The CAS may be installed 14 feet from the control unit using a 14-foot modular
cord or up to 1,000 feet from the control unit following the voice terminal wir-
ing plan in your system’s installation guide.
NOTE: Before installing the CAS, be sure that a SMDR Module is installed
in slot 5 of your control unit. Also make sure that the SMDR options have
been administered according to the instructions in your administration
manual’s section titled "Administering SMDR Options."
Choose a location for your CAS following the guidelines below:
The distance between the CAS and a 3-prong outlet must be less
than five feet.
The 3-prong outlet must not be controlled by a wall switch.
The distance between the control unit and the CAS should be no
more than 1,000 feet.
If you are installing the CAS within 14 feet of the control unit, plug one
end of a 14-foot modular cord into the modular jack on the front of the
SMDR Module (Figure 4). Proceed to Step 4 below.
