Cleaning the Prism
WARNING
◇
Handle all harmful substances with extreme caution.
Fully understand a sample's properties before applying to this instrument.
Ensure no harmful sample substances are present when dismantling.
CAUTION
Temperature of the cleaning liquid
◇
Cleaning liquids up to 160˚C can be used for CIP or SIP. The momentary
difference between the sample liquid temperature and the cleaning liquid
temperature must be no more than 80˚C.
When using cleaning liquids at temperatures over 160˚C, the power
switch must be turned off.
Undissolved solids and/or oily residues may build up on the prism surface over time, depending on the
characteristics of the sample solution.
If the prism is not cleaned after the tank is emptied, sample residues may crust on the prism surface.
The sample flow helps flush out sample residues to some extent. Clean-in-place (CIP) with hot water or
alkaline solutions is a common cleaning method.
If matter adhering to the surface of the prism cannot be removed by such cleaning, it is necessary to clean
the surface of the prism directly. Follow these steps:
①
Take the detection section off the tank, or clean from inside the tank.
②
Clean the prism surface with soft tissue paper soaked with lukewarm water or ethyl alcohol. When the
sample solution is oil-based, clean with ethyl alcohol. Otherwise, soapy water is effective. Do not use
abrasive cleaning pads.
③
If the detection section was removed, re-mount it.
