5.2.2 Why use a DHCP?
DHCP allows you to manage and distribute IP addresses throughout your
network from the router. Without DHCP, you would have to configure
each computer separately with IP address and related information. DHCP
is commonly used with large networks and those that are frequently
expanded or otherwise updated.
5.2.3 Configuring a DHCP Server
By default, the router is configured as a DHCP server
on the LAN side, with a predefined IP address pool from
192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.42 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0).
To change this range of addresses, follow the procedures
described in this section.
To configure a DHCP server
You must first configure your PCs to accept DHCP informa

tion assigned by a DHCP server.
1. Log into Configuration Manager as administrator. Click
LAN -> DHCP
.
The DHCP Configuration page displays as shown in Figure 5.2.
