3.6 Upper Lock Rollers
To adjust or replace the upper lock rollers, perform the following steps. Refer to the
figure as necessary for identification of items referenced below.
1. With the lift car on the ground, retract the upper left corner of the lift car skirt until the
upper lock rollers can be accessed. See Section 3.4 for detailed instructions on
retracting the skirt.
2. In order to adjust the location of the rollers, use a 9/16" wrench to loosen the two (2)
3/8-24 nuts several turns, use a 7/16" wrench to loosen the two (2) 1/4-20 bolts
several turns, and then shift the location of the bracket and rollers. It may be
necessary to use a large standard screwdriver to keep the rollers from rotating while
the nuts are being turned. The rollers should be adjusted so that the following
conditions are met:
a. the locking rod is thrown smoothly between the rollers before the lift car
moves away from the lower landing, without jarring or hesitation;
CAUTION!
When the safety skirt is retracted, stay clear of the exposed edges of the lift
car when the lift car is moving in order to avoid pinching or crushing injury.
