5.2 Processor
ATCA-7475 provides two Intel Xeon E5-2648L V2 (E5-2658 V2 for ATCA-7475-xGB-CE variants)
10-core processors as the central processing unit (CPU). Both CPUs are based on 22 nm process
technology and provide the following main features:

1.9 GHz core frequency

32 KB L1 instruction cache per core

32 KB L1 data cache per core

256 KB L2 cache per core

25 MB L3 cache shared among the ten cores (2.5 MB per core)

Each CPU provides 40 PCIe lanes up to Gen3 speeds (8GT/s)

Each CPU provides one x4 DMI/PCIe port to connect to PCH or PCIe device


The processors are connected with each other through 2 Intel QuickPath Interconnect point-
to-point links capable of up to 8 GT/s, both Xeon CPUs provide an integrated 4-channel DDR3
Memory Controller (IMC).
5.3 Memory
The Xeon CPU features an integrated DDR3 memory controller. The memory controller
provides four independent memory channels that allow flexible memory configurations.
ATCA-7475 provides one DIMM slot per memory channel and thus a 1DPC (DIMM per channel
configuration). Use of 2-rank DIMM is essential in this configuration to have the best data
bandwidth throughput.
ATCA-7475 supports following DDR3 memory DIMMs:

DDR3 RDIMM (registered) with ECC support

Very Low Profile

Max 2 ranks per DIMM

Min 2 ranks per DIMM for best performance

