7.2.4 Setting Linux date and time manually
This section provides a brief description about the commands that are used for manually
setting Linux date and time.
Assuming that you have an NSF mounted
rootfs
or booting from SSD/HD/uSD. It applies to
both SharpServer and SharpStreamer cards.

To set the time zone on host machine:
#
timedatectl set-timezone 'America/Los_Angeles
'
# timedatectl set-ntp yes
# systemctl restart ntpd

If your card does not have remote access, you can set time/date manually using following
command.
#
timedatectl set-time
To set the hardware clock, syncing it with system clock:
#
hwclock -r
Mon Jan 3 15:59:43 2000 -0.781876 seconds
#
hwclock -w
#
hwclock -r
Thu Feb 11 15:37:19 2016 -0.735010 seconds

On SharpStreamer card, the time zone is set in /etc/profile . By default, the timezone is set
to MST. You can change the timezone, if required.
[root@pcie7207]# grep TZ /etc/profile
export TZ=America/Phoenix
[root@pcie7207 artesyn]# date
Thu Mar 10 14:35:13 MST 2016
[root@pcie7207 artesyn]# vi /etc/profile
Modify the /etc/profile with required timezone. For example, set to America/Los_Angeles.
[root@pcie7207]# grep TZ /etc/profile
export TZ=America/Los_Angeles
[root@pcie7207 artesyn]# export TZ=America/Los_Angeles
[root@pcie7207 artesyn]# date
