To install the above listed packages on the host system:
1. Log in to the host system as
root
2. Run the following commands.
yum install epel-release
yum install dhcp
yum install tftp-server
yum install syslinux
6.1.1.1 Firewall Configuration
The CentOS 7.1 installation has the Firewall service enabled by default. For DHCP and TFTP to
function properly, few firewall configuration changes are required.
Log in to the host as
root
and run the following commands:
# firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=dhcp
# firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-service=tftp
6.1.1.2 SELinux Configuration
By default, SELinux is set to enforcing, which prevents DHCP/TFTP from working properly.
To change the SELinux configuration:
1. Log in to the host as
root
.
2. Modify the file
/etc/selinux/config
with the editor.
3. Change the line
"SELINUX=enforcing" to "SELINUX=permissive"
.
4. Save the changes and exit the editor.
5. Reboot the host system.
6.1.1.3 TFTP Configuration
By default, the TFTP server is disabled on CentOS 7.1 and it needs to be enabled.
