Complete Thermal Exchange Gas Fired Water Heater
• Check the spark plug connection and wire.
• Check the Eclipse Veri-Flame controller (Fig 28-1):
This test procedure is designed to check for a false
fl ame signal after the start of the trial for ignition of the
burner. Close the ball valve on the top of the fuel train
near the top plate (Fig 29-1) The correct response of the
Eclipse Veri-Flame controller is:
A. If the burner is running, it will lose fl ame and then
the Eclipse Veri-Flame controller should have no
indication of fl ame and will de-energize the safety
shut-off valves.
B. If the burner is not running, create a demand to start
the burner and the Eclipse Veri-Flame controller
should not keep the safety shutoff valves open after the end of the trial for ignition. After that the
Eclipse Veri-Flame controller should have no indication of fl ame and it should de-energize the safety
shut-off valves.
If the Eclipse Veri-Flame controller does not respond as instructed above it failed the test and a hazard
condition exists.
