CARE AND CLEANING
The following are the ArjoHuntleigh recommended daily and weekly cleaning and infection control procedures for the
KinAir
MedSurg Pulse
System while it is in use. If the product is to be purchased or utilized for long-term rentals, it is recommended
that ArjoHuntleigh be contacted for recommended Infection Control Procedures be used by the facility, dealership or home
user.
It is recommended that all chapters of this manual be reviewed prior to product use.
Carefully read the Contraindications,
Risks and Precautions and Safety Tips sections in the Introduction chapter prior to performing care and cleaning
procedures on the
KinAir MedSurg Pulse
bed.
DAILY CARE AND CLEANING OF THE
KINAIR MEDSURG PULSE
SYSTEM
NOTE:
The patient need not be removed from the KinAir MedSurg Pulse System when performing daily cleaning procedures.
The patient may be bathed as the patient support surface is being cleaned.
1.
Level patient support surface and adjust its height to facilitate ease of bathing.
2.
Activate and adjust Heater to enhance patient comfort during bathing.
3.
Turn
INSTAFLATE
/ MEMORY RETURN knob clockwise to create a firm surface.
NOTE:
You may silence the InstaFlate Alarm by pressing ALARM SILENCE.
4.
Lower Side Rails (if used) on caregiver's side.
5.
Bathe patient following institution protocols. Wipe Cover Sheet while bathing patient.
NOTE:
Avoid spilling fluids on bed controls. If spills do occur, clean fluid from bed, wearing rubber gloves to avoid any
possibility of electric shock. Once fluid is removed, check operation of components in area of spill.
WARNING
Fluids remaining on controls can cause corrosion, which may cause
components to fail or to operate erratically, possibly producing
hazards for patient and staff.
6.
Unfasten the hook and loop strap and move Cover Sheet for access to soiled cushions and wipe, as needed.
7.
Dry cushions and Cover Sheet with towel. Remaining moisture will evaporate rapidly with air flow.
8.
Refasten the hook and loop strap, as needed.
9.
Position patient on mattress. Verify that top of shoulder is between
second and third cushion.
10.
Raise and lock Side Rails, if required. (See related

Safety Tips
sections in the
Introduction
chapter of
this manual.)
11.
Turn the
INSTAFLATE
/ MEMORY RETURN knob
counterclockwise to restore preset cushion pressure settings.
12.
Adjust support surface for patient comfort.
