PATIENT TRANSPORT
NOTE:
Power is supplied to the bed by an Under Bed Inverter (UBI). With fully recharged batteries, the UBI will function
for up to 1 hour if the bed is set into one blower mode, the heater is off and minimal use is made of the ArjoHuntleigh
KinAir MedSurg Pulse frame functions. Operation of blowers, the heater and / or more than a few minutes use of the
frame functions of the bed will considerably reduce the available time of batteries operation.
NOTE:
Battery status indicator lights on the foot end of the UBI enclosure show the battery charge states;
•
Green being fully charged.
•
Yellow indicating intermediate charge.
•
Red showing a low battery state.
•
The battery status indicator will be on steady, non-blinking to indicate operation from wall power.
•
The battery status indicator will change to a fast blinking condition during operation from batteries.
NOTE:
When the Battery Pack voltage becomes low, the UBI will shut down to prevent the batteries from draining
completely. The Power Cord must be plugged into a wall outlet to recharge the batteries. This should be done
immediately, if possible.
1.
Adjust bed height to lowest position.
2.
Verify Side Rails are raised and locked. Unlock brakes.
3.
Unplug Power Cord from wall outlet. Verify blower continues to maintain cushion pressures.
4.
Transport patient, following all application safety rules and institution protocols.
5.
At completion of transport, plug Power Cord into a wall outlet. Ensure outlet is not controlled by a wall switch.
PATIENT BATHING
1.
Level patient support surface and adjust its height to facilitate ease of bathing.
2.
Activate and adjust Warmer (if indicated) to enhance patient comfort during bathing.
3.
Turn
INSTAFLATE
/ MEMORY RETURN knob clockwise to create a firm surface.
NOTE:
You may silence the InstaFlate Alarm by pressing ALARM SILENCE.
4.
Lower Side Rails (on caregiver's side).
5.
Bathe patient following institution protocols. Wipe Cover Sheet while bathing patient.
NOTE:
Avoid spilling fluids on bed controls. If spills do occur, unplug unit and cancel Transport Mode. Clean fluid from
bed. Once fluid is removed, plug power cord back into wall outlet and check operation of components in area of
spill.
WARNING
Fluids remaining on controls can cause corrosion, which may cause
components to fail or to operate erratically, possibly producing
hazards for patient and staff.
