eACKWASHING YOUR FILTER
NOTE: How often you backwash depends on the number of fish, how frequently you feed them and the season. We recom­
mend cleaning once a week. In heavy fish loads like in aquaculture twice a week or more is necessary.
WARNING: Before depressing and turning the valve handle always turn off your pump. Leaving the pump running while
changing valve positions compromises the seals on your filter. Damage caused by leaving the pump on is not covered under
warranty.
1. Tum pump off.
2. Depress valve handle, rotate lever to backwash.
3. Tum pump on.
4. Backwash 1 to 2 minutes.
5. Tum pump off.
6. Depress handle and tum to rinse.
7. Tum pump on.
8. Rinse about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 for a total of 3 times. (Backwash and Rinse 3 Times)
10. Tum pump off.
11. Depress valve and turn back to filter this is the normal operating position.
12. Tum pump on. Filter cleaning is complete.
