ULTIMA II INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS CONTINUED
Installing the Media into the Filter
1. Before installing the media remove the shipping straps used to support the multi-diffusser during transport.
2. Check inside the filter for any damaged or broken parts that may have been damaged during shipping. Replace any
broken parts.
3. Check that the air relief tubing is attached to the lower pipe assembly and runs up to the strainer air relief and is
securely tied to the diffuser basket before pouring the media in.
4. Pour in the media.
Lid Closure Installations
Caution:
Never attempt to loosen or tighten the closure when the pump is running.
Add the pressure gauge and bleeder valve to the closure lid.
Installing Lids with Threaded Closure
Use care when installing closure. The closure should turn freely in the filter, if resistance to closure insertion is felt, then
slowly remove the closure by turning counter-clockwise. The starting thread of the tank and the closure must engage
properly in order to secure the closure. Do not cross-thread closure.
Failure to install the closure properly can cause the closure to separate and could cause sever bodily injury and/or
property damage. Improper installation voids the warranty.
With the plastic wrench provided with the filter tighten the closure as tight as possible using 2 hands on the wrench
handles. As a minimum the closure must be hand tight plus 1/4 turn.
Installing Lids with Oval Closure
1. Clean the lid O-ring and lubricate it with a silicone sealant ie. Alladin Magic Lube Green with Kevlar, Dow#33 or #44
or GE 300 or 623.
2. Place _the O-ring in the lid closure.
3. Wash away all media from around the opening the underside of the tank, where the lid will seat.
4. Place the closure lid in the filter body.
a. Use care when installing the closure. The closure should be inserted at a 30 degree angle. Insert the narrow
side of the oval, without the pressure gauge and bleeder first.
b. Once the closure is inside the tank rotate it 90 degrees and lift up to seal the tank.
5. The aluminum bridge with the load spring can then be placed over the closure bolt and the knob tightened to load the
closure properly. Hand tighten only, do not use a wrench to tighten the knob.
