I-3A. The Outer Housing.

The Outer Housing of the Model 50/75 Auger is a steel shell surrounding the main components

of the auger motor assembly. The auger housing and its components are designed to be compat-
ible with most standard pile leads. A lifting sheave is mounted at the

top of the housing with a

removable shaft. After the Model 50/75 has been placed into the pile

leads, a steel wire cable

must be connected through the lifting sheave. The required strength of

the cable depends on the

weight of the objects being lifted and the lifting capacity. A safety factor

of six is recommended

when considering the cable strength.
