2 Introduction Electroluminescent Touch Panels
can also use TPDOC software to upload drawings for use with Touch Panel pages.
Refer to the TPDOC User's Manual for more information.
The Touch Panel uses the AXlink 4-wire bus to connect to the AXCESS Server and
Master Cards or to the AXCENT system. Your computer connects to one of the RS-
232 ports on the AXCESS system or to the program port on the AXCENT system.
Additionally, for developing and controlling Touch Panel pages, you can connect an
optional Microsoft or Logitech mouse to the Touch Panel RS-232 port.
When you select MOUSE from the protected setup page, the data rate is
automatically set to 1,200 baud. You can set the data rate for your computer or other
RS-232 device as described in

System Requirements
As a unit in an AXCESS System
Use interactive AXCESS language programs for sending data to and receiving data
from a Touch Panel. Button feedback is provided by the AXCESS system to indicate
response to button attributes and functions.

AXCESS CardFrame and appropriate control cards or AXCENT devices.

AXCESS cable for 12V DC power and the AXCESS AXlink signal bus
•
AMX 12V DC power module for AXCESS or AXCENT power
•
RS-232 cable, DB-9 female to DB-9 female, or DB-9 female to DB25 female as
required by your computer or other RS-232 device
•
MS/PC-DOS computer and system software, and TPDOC for saving and
retrieving Touch Panel pages and drawings
•
Optional Microsoft or Logitech mouse for page development and Touch
Panel operation
Stand-alone with a computer or other RS-232 device
Develop your control pages with regular touch buttons and icons. Use string, output
button attributes to send RS-232 data to a computer or other RS-232 device for
controlling a system. Call AMX Technical Support (see
Technical Support ) about
limitations and restrictions when you want to use Touch Panels in the RS-232-only
configuration.
