Disembarking a Passenger/Unloading
a Wheelchair
Ö
Switch the vehicle's engine OFF.
Ö
Remove the ignition key.
Ö
Apply the vehicle's handbrake.
Ö
Open the rear doors / tailgate.
Ö
Fold the ramp out until it makes contact with
the ground (see Section 5.2, page 25).
With a one-piece ramp:
Ö
Operate the rocker push button for the Lowering Rear
Suspension, see Figure 7, page 20).
The rear suspension lowers.
WARNING!
Danger of injury through the lowering rear suspension.
Limbs can be crushed between the vehicle and the ground
when lowering the vehicle's rear suspension (e. g. on kerb
stones).
When the vehicle's rear suspension is lowered, there is a
danger of collision with the tailgate.
Therefore:
Make certain that no limbs are under the vehicle when
lowering the rear suspension.
Take note that the headroom under the open tailgate is
reduced when the rear suspension is lowered.
Inform third parties of the danger if necessary.
Ö
Release the lap belt and the automatic diagonal shoulder
belt with which the passenger is secured (refer to the
Brief Operating Instructions for the wheelchair and occu-
pant restraint system).
Ö
Slacken the retractor belt reels (see Figure 16, page 31).
Ö
Un-clip the retractor belts from the fittings in the rear area
of the floor section of the vehicle (see Figure 4, page 18).
Ö
Detach the retractor belts from the wheelchair.
Ö
Release the wheelchair's parking brakes.
Ö
Take up a position behind the wheelchair so that you can
stop the wheelchair safely if it rolls backwards.
