roam
scan=rf1-only
or
both-rf1-and-rf2
Valid at a remote or leaf node that is enabled for roaming. It specifies whether the list of
roaming channels should come from just the rf1 configuration, or both the rf1 and rf2. You can
specify up to six channels in each configuration for a total of 12. Using both configurations
allows you to scan on two antennas at a remote or leaf node. Branch nodes can also roam, but
only allow the “rf1-only” setting (the rf2 is for communicating with its children)
speed=slow
or
fast
Determines how frequently the radio takes one cycle off to assess the signal strength from
alternate parents. For most applications the default
slow
mode is adequate. The
fast
mode may
be appropriate if you have fast moving vehicles and many channels to scan. Note that in fast
mode you can not have roaming branches and the network capacity is reduced by 22% (see
section 2.2.3). All radios in the network (including hubs, roots and branches) must have this
parameter set to the same value.
change-hub=slow
or
medium
or
fast
Controls the criteria used by the mobile radio to change access point. In the
slow
setting the
radio will stay attached to the current parent unless its link starts making errors or the alternate
parent is much stronger than the current one. With the
fast
setting the mobile radio changes
once the alternate parent is only slightly stronger (about 6 dB) than the current one. The
medium setting (default) is somewhere in between.
The slow mode is appropriate for situations where the vehicle moves slowly and randomly over
an area covered by multiple hubs. In this situation the slow setting reduces the number of times
the vehicle switches between access points. The fast mode may be appropriate for vehicles
moving fast and in a track where, once an alternate hub is in view, it will keep getting stronger
while the current access point will keep getting weaker.
