Fuse
The input current is fused at 1.0 amp on each NIU3 PM
and cannot be replaced in the field.
Options
Options for test time out, in-band loopback enable, keep
alive signal, and customer transmit level are available
through the Provisioning menu screen. There are no
hardware options on the NIU3 PM. Framing is automat-
ically detected as the DS3 signal passes through the
unit.
3. TURNUP
When inserted into a housing with power applied, the
STATUS
LED illuminates red while the NIU3 PM
performs a self-test. If the self-test passes, the
STATUS
LED illuminates green and the remaining LEDs go
through an on/off sequence indicating the NIU3 PM is
online. If the test fails, the
STATUS
LED remains red
and the host bypass relays will maintain data flow
around the NIU3 PM. Shutdown procedures are not
required.
LED Indicators
LED indicators on the NIU3 PM front panel display
status during normal, trouble, and test operation.
