Install the rack mounting brackets on the NetVanta. To avoid damaging the unit, use only the
screws shipped with the mounting brackets when attaching them to the chassis. (
shows installing the mounting brackets on the NetVanta 1534/1544. The installation of the
mounting brackets is similar for the NetVanta 1531/1531P and NetVanta 1534P/1544P.)

To allow proper grounding, scrape the paint from the rack around the mounting holes where the
NetVanta will be positioned.

Position the NetVanta in a stationary equipment rack. This unit occupies 1U of space.

Have an assistant hold the unit in position as you install two mounting bolts through the unit’s
brackets and into the equipment rack using a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver.

Apply power to the unit (refer to
Supplying Power to the Unit on page 37
).
Kensington Lock

The NetVanta 1531/1531P/1534/1544 Series units have a Kensington lock slot that accepts
a lock and cable security device (see
). Consult the manual shipped with your
Kensington lock for installation instructions.
