3.3.4 Connect the pigtail connector to the motor or
transformer plug and turn on the circuit breaker.
3.4 Raising and Latching the LD Ring
3.4.1 Turn the remote control switch to “FOR”. As the
ring nears the headframe, if the ring is not equipped
with an iris-type guide arm system, the ring may be
swinging about by several inches. If so, allow the ring
to settle until it is nearly still before engaging the latch
barrels with the latches.
3.4.2 All three latch flags will rotate 45
°
and the torque
limiter will disengage. Release the switch to “OFF”.
The device is cocked and ready to latch. (See Figure
26)
3.4.3 Turn the switch to “REV” and then release to
“OFF” as soon as the latch flags rotate perpendicular to
the ring. (See Figure 27)
3.4.4 Unwind the winch just enough to remove tension
from the winch cable.
3.5 Final Steps
3.5.1 Loosen the hand knob and remove the power unit
from the handhole. Unwind the cable to allow the
power unit to lower to the ground.
3.5.2 Unhook the winch cable from the clevis and
attach the hook to the side of the portable drive motor.
Remove the slack in the cable. Unlatch and store the
extension legs in their latched position.
3.5.3 Turn off the circuit breaker. Disconnect the
circuit breaker cord from the portable drive motor and
connect to the main power cord in the pole. Hook the
safety cable to the U-shaped bail of the clevis. Turn on
the circuit breaker.
3.5.4 Install the handhole cover.
