(b) Place fueling control panel power switch in off position.
(c) Place manual fill switch in auto position.

(24) Place defueling shutoff valve control lever to closed position; safety lever with

lockwire.

(25) Place fueling control panel power switch in off position.
(26) Close access doors.
(27) Disconnect fueling unit/airplane ground cable.

NOTE: Steps (28) and (29) should be performed on condition or at operators

discretion.

(28) Depress valve stem in fuel line shroud drain valve, located aft of right main gear

wheel well, to check for presence of fuel. Presence of fuel can indicate a ruptured
line(s) or loose connection(s).

(29) Drain forward auxiliary fuel tank cavity drain by depressing square valve stem in

valve located on lower right side of fuselage below auxiliary tank. Presence of fuel
at this drain indicates leak in auxiliary tank fuel cell and leak source must be
determined.

(30) Drain water from fuel tank sumps as follows:

NOTE: All fuel tank sump drain valves operate identically.

(a) Insert probe. of drain tool in center recess of sump drain valve, and apply

upward force.

NOTE: Fuel should flow immediately after upward force is applied to tool.

The sump tool permits a fluid flow rate in excess of 3 gallons per
minute creating the siphoning action necessary to remove a maximum
amount of free water from the tank sumps and thus reduces corrosion
and sumping time.

(b) Drain tank sump until water ceases to flow.

NOTE: Fuel tank sumps should be drained after sufficient time

(approximately 45 minutes). for water to settle out of fuel. Sump
draining directly after landing may not be effective as water may be in
the form of ice and will not drain.

Depending on duration of airplane Turn Around time, tank sumping
may be more effective if accomplished immediately preceding
refueling operation.

(c) Check all sump drain valves for leakage; no leakage is permissible.
