CHECK THAT MAIN GEAR INBOARD DOORS ARE CLOSED
BEFORE FUELING AIRPLANE.
A. Main Fuel Tanks
(1) Connect
fueling
unit/airplane grounding cable.
CAUTION: OBSERVE THE NO STEP AREAS ON WINGS.
(2) Use ladder or suitable stand at wing leading edge to gain access to overwing fill
adapter (see
Figure 301
).
(3) Connect fueling-nozzle-grounding plug to airplane grounding receptacle.
(4) Insert fueling nozzle in fill adapter. Slowly open fueling nozzle valve; commence
fueling.
(5) If main tank maximum fuel load is desired, fuel each main tank until fuel level
reaches overwing fill adapter screen retainer ring bead.
NOTE: Maximum usable capacity loads are 9841 lbs. for each main tank.
(6) If main tanks are to be fueled to less than maximum capacity, use following
procedure.
(a) Open fueling control panel access door..
(b) Place fueling control panel power switch in on position; verify that power
indicator blue light comes on (see
Figure 302
).
NOTE: If external electrical power is not available to supply the airplane load
buses, airplane battery power will automatically be supplied to the
ground refueling circuit when the fueling control panel power switch
is placed in the on position. Conservative use of airplane battery
power for fuel quantity indication is permissible.
(c) Momentarily hold fuel quantity repeater-indicator (gage) test switch in test
position to test indicators; pointers will move towards zero, when switch is
released, pointers will return to original quantity.
(d) Monitor main tank fuel quantity indicators (or magnetic dripless fuel
measuring sticks, if fuel quantity indicators are inoperative).
(e) Continue fueling until desired fuel load in each main tank is attained.
(f) Place panel power switch in off position.
(g) Close access door.
(7) Remove
fueling
nozzle.
(8) Disconnect
fueling
nozzle grounding plug.
