— Insert the other screw through the curved slot track in the mounting bracket to the hole in
the middle of the pole bracket just above the clamp slot.
5.
Level the mounting bracket by rotating the unit along the curved slot tracks. Tighten the
screws.
To continue installing the Tropos 1410, see the next section,
Connecting Power and Data Cables
The Tropos 1410 supports wired clients connected to either or both Ethernet or serial interfaces.
The Tropos 1410 is equipped with two weather-proof RJ-45 connectors that are used for
Ethernet and serial interfaces and for powering the Tropos 1410.
Depending on the specific application, the use of one or both connectors may be required. If the
Tropos 1410 is going to be used as a node in a Tropos mesh network, only DC power needs to be
provided to the unit. This is easily accomplished through the Ethernet port (see Chapter 2 for
power alternatives).
If the Tropos 1410 is going to be used as a bridge or as a node in the network and also provide
connectivity to a wired client, first determine the communication ports required and decide on a
power strategy.
describes the possible wired client scenarios.
Table 2
Wired Client Scenarios
Wired Client Scenario
Recommended wiring
One Ethernet client
• Connect the Ethernet client to the Ethernet port on the Tropos 1410
• Provide power to the Tropos 1410 on the Ethernet port
One Ethernet client
One RS-232 serial client
• Connect the Ethernet client to the Ethernet port on the Tropos 1410
• Connect the RS-232 serial client to the serial port on the Tropos
1410
• Provide power to the Tropos 1410 on either the Ethernet port or the
serial port
One Ethernet client
Two RS-232 serial clients
• Connect the Ethernet client to the Ethernet port on the Tropos 1410
• Connect the RS-232 serial clients to the serial port on the Tropos
1410
• Provide power to the Tropos 1410 on the Ethernet ports
One Ethernet client
One RS-485 serial client
• Connect the Ethernet client to the Ethernet port on the Tropos 1410
• Connect the RS-485 serial client to the serial port on the Tropos
1410
• Provide power to the Tropos 1410 on either the Ethernet port or the
serial port
