ScanEM-C Electromagnetic Near-Field
Probe’s sound or LED bar while scanning?
Check to see if the tested product is powered up.
Make sure that the ScanEM-C Probe’s antenna is as close to the
measured area as possible.
Did you set the Level dial properly?
When the ScanEM-C Probe is pointed away from the tested area, only
the green light should be on.
Maybe you don’t have an EMC problem?
Is it difficult to pinpoint at the exact location of the problem in a self-
contained mode?
The overall emission level may be too high. the ScanEM-C Probe could
be confused if high-level emissions are coming from the sides and you
are trying to locate a lower-level emission spot in the middle. Try to
increase the background level (adjust the Level dial). Make sure that the
ScanEM-C Probe is perpendicular to the surface of the tested area.
Sometimes EM fields change with time depending on what is going on
inside your product (i.e. disk access). In this case the ScanEM-C Probe
will be reflecting those changes, which may make it harder to zero in on
specific points of high emission.
The LED bar lights up, but there is no sound?
The Sound switch should be in the On position (to the right) in order for
the ScanEM-C Probe to produce sound.
