3e-525A–3 Wireless Access Point

Chapter 2: Hardware Installation

29000167-001 B

Card. This software does not have WPA/WPA2 authentication

modes but can be used with 3eTI proprietary encryption modes:

AES, 3DES, and Dynamic Key Exchange (DKE).

– 3e-010F-C-2 Crypto Client software for use with Intel® PRO/

Wireless 2200BG or 2915ABG Network Connection

– 3e-010F-A-2 Crypto Client software for use with Atheros

based Wireless LAN cards

• Access to at least one laptop or PC with an Ethernet card and

cable that can be used to complete the initial con fi g u ra tion of the

unit.

• A Web browser program (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5

or later, or Netscape 6.2 or later) in stalled on the PC or laptop you

will be using to confi gure the Access Point.

• TCP/IP Protocol (usually comes installed on any Windows PC.)

Cabling

The fol low ing il lus tra tion shows the external cable connectors on the

3e–525A–3.

The WAN con nec tor is used to connect the 3e–525A–3 to the organiza-

tion's LAN. The RED Ethernet/PoE cable is attached to the WAN port of

the 3e–525A–3. and is routed from the unit to the power injector to pro-

vide DC power and the LAN connection to the 3e–525A–3. The BLUE 4-

wire Ethernet cable is connected to the LAN port of the 3e–525A–3 for use

during initial confi guration only, and connects to a laptop. The following

diagram illustrates the setup.
