The preferred coder is the coder that the VCX V7111 uses as a first choice for all
connections. If the far end gateway does not use this coder, the VCX V7111
negotiates with the far end gateway to select a coder that both sides can use.

Map outgoing calls to IP addresses (
when Gatekeeper isn’t used
) by completing these
steps:
ƒ
Click the arrow button next to the ‘Tel to IP Routing Table’ label; the ‘Tel to IP
Routing’ screen opens.
Any telephone number whose destination number matches the prefix defined in the
‘Destination Phone Prefix’ field
and
whose source number matches the prefix defined
in the adjacent ‘Source Phone Prefix‘ field, is sent to the IP address entered in the ‘IP
Address’ field.
ƒ Click the
Submit
button; the ‘Tel to IP Routing’ table is automatically updated.
ƒ Click the
Close Window
button.

Allocate VCX V7111 endpoints (analog lines) and their corresponding phone numbers to
incoming IP calls by completing these steps:
ƒ Click the arrow button next to the ‘Endpoint Phone Number’ label; the ‘Endpoint
Phone Numbers’ screen opens.
ƒ Enter the number of a channel, starting with 1, (or a group of channels), under the
‘Channel(s)’ column (for example 1-4 for the first 4 endpoints).
ƒ Assign each channel a phone number (for a group of channels, define the first
number in an ordered sequence). For an example of connecting two VCX V7111
8FXS
devices, see Example of Connecting Two 8FXS Devices on page 39.
ƒ Click the
Submit
button; the ‘Endpoint Phone Number’ table is automatically
updated.
ƒ Click the
Close Window
button.

Reset
button and click
OK
in the prompt; The VCX V7111 applies the changes
and restarts. This takes approximately 1 minute to complete. When the VCX V7111 has
finished restarting, the Ready and LAN LEDs on the front panel are lit green.

Configuring Basic SIP Parameters
After accessing the Embedded Web Server (see “Accessing the Embedded Web Server” on
page 31) the SIP ‘Quick Setup’ screen is displayed (Figure 19).
