Convention
Description
“Enter” versus “Type”
The word “enter” means you must type something, then press the Return or Enter
key. Do not press the Return or Enter key when an instruction simply says “type.”

is used to emphasize a point.

italics
Italics
are used to denote the first occurrence of a new term which is defined in the
glossary.
Text represented as
screen
display
This typeface
represents information that appears on your terminal screen.
Text represented as
commands
This typeface
is used to represent commands that you enter, for example:
snmp display
Keys
When specific keys are referred
to in the text, they are described by their labels, such
as “Return” or “Escape,” or they may be shown as [Return] or [Esc].
If two or more keys are to be pressed simultaneously, the keys are linked with a plus
sign (+), for example:
Press [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del].
