Setting Up an IP Interface for Management

Pinging uses the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo facility to
send an ICMP echo request packet to the IP station you specify. It then
waits for an ICMP echo reply packet. Possible responses from pinging are:

Alive
■
No answer
■
Network is unreachable. A network is unreachable when there is no route to
that network.
To ping an IP station:

From the top level of the Administration Console, enter:
ip ping

Enter the IP address of the station you want to ping.
IP Address:
192.9.200.40
You could receive one of the following responses:
192.9.200.40 is alive
OR
no answer from 192.9.200.40
For a remote IP address, you can also receive the following response:
Network is unreachable
You should receive a response that the address you pinged is
Alive
. If you do
not receive this response, be sure that you have defined the correct
interface values.
