(that is, adapters w ithout a "B"suffix) do not support the Auto

 

Select Media Type function.

If it is  unable to detect which  cable is connected  or if there  is 

no cable connected, the  Auto Select  Media Type function 

defaults to the type of connector that  is  set in the  EEPROM.
