The system has either failed or that failure is imminent by simultaneously flashing all LEDs
red and buzzing the audio alarm continuously. Examples of a condition that may cause a
system failure is the inability of the battery to recharge because the battery draws excessive
current (more than 3.6 A) over an extended time.
Power cycling the BPS12 (disconnecting ac power, then reconnecting ac power) may reset the
LEDs and audio alarm, but the condition that caused this failure alert will remain and the
LEDs will start flashing again within two hours.
If the LEDs continue to flash after you power cycle the system or begin flashing again within
two hours, contact Zultys Technical Support.
•
The internal batteries are about to experience a deep discharge condition. The BPS12 shuts
down the system to avoid damaging the batteries permanently.
When the ac power is off, the LEDs begin flashing red when the magnitude of the output
voltage drops below –45 Vdc; the system shuts down when the voltage drops below –42Vdc.
Connecting the BPS12 to ac power will resolve this problem if the batteries are capable of
recharging normally. In this case, the LEDs will not start flashing and no further action is
required
Whenever the BPS12 generates a failure alert, contact Zultys Technical Support or your local
Zultys sales representative for assistance.
Warning
Never attempt to resolve a system failure by servicing the BPS12 yourself. Any
attempt to do so may cause personal injury and will void your warranty.
4.4
BPS12 Capacity
4.4.1
BPS12 Capacity when Connected to ac Power
When the BPS12 is receiving ac power, it can simultaneously provide power to the devices to
which it is connected and recharge its internal batteries.
4.4.1.1
Load supply
When the main ac power is on, a single BPS12 can supply –56 Vdc nominal, 10 A maximum to an
individual load or distributed among all loads.
4.4.1.2
Battery Recharge
When the main ac power is on, the BPS12 can fully recharge its internal batteries to 85% of
capacity within 24 hours and 100% within seven days while suppling an output current of 10 A.
4.4.2
BPS12 Capacity when Not Connected to ac Power
When disconnected from its ac power source, the BPS12 supplies power to the load from its
internal batteries.
