Inner Loopback
: The loopback test is implemented at
the remote electrical port. This loopback type is used
to check whether the E1 service towards the remote
service board is normal. It also helps check whether
the cables connected to the remote service board are
normal.
Outer Loopback
: The loopback test is implemented
at the local electrical port. This loopback type is used
to check whether the E1 service entering the local
service board is normal. It also helps check whether
the cables connected to the local service board are
normal.

3.2 Checking the Ethernet OAM Function
Ethernet Operation, Administration and Maintenance (
) involves fault management
and performance management.
When a fault occurs in the network, OAM helps
maintenance personnel rapidly locate the fault and find out the fault cause. Performance
