Motorola BitSurfr
The more specific the type you choose, the more likely that the
software will let you use some of the TA’s advanced features.
Initialization, Reset, Dial, and Answer Settings
Modem connections over ISDN lines require different settings in the
initialization, reset, dial, and answer strings. Your software may
provide these for you, or you may need to enter them yourself.
The ISDN TA/V.34 and TA require different initialization settings
depending on whether you’re connecting to a telephone or other
voice
device, or a remote access server, or other
ISDN device
. If your software
does not have ISDN TA settings, you must add them.
Note
The TA/V.34 also supports connections to an analog device
such as a fax machine, faxmodem, or analog modem.
For ISDN Connections
The TA/V.34 and TA allow you to communicate with digital-only and
analog devices so you can
•
make and receive voice calls
•
access the Internet, online services, and other remote
access servers such as LANs or BBSs
•
send and receive large data files, including images, video,
and sound
•
work interactively with others through voice and data
calls on two channels on one line
The TA/V.34 also includes the ability to
•
send and receive faxes over ISDN
•
send and receive data, either modem analog or pure
digital (in this manual we refer to digital as digital data)
